Jamaica is the third-largest Caribbean island stretching 146 miles long and 22-50 miles wide,
covering 4,240 square miles in area. Situated in the Caribbean Sea, the island houses an
estimated 2.8 million national residents. Jamaica’s largest and capital city, Kingston, is home
to approximately 591,000 people.

The official currency of Jamaica is the Jamaican Dollar, abbreviated as JMD.

people of African Descent, representing 92.1% of the population. A prominent minority group,
Irish Jamaicans, represent the country’s second-largest ethnic group with a community majority
having mixed Irish and Jamaican ancestry.

The Rastafari Religion originated from Jamaica in the 1930s and is regarded as both a religious
and social movement. However, the most practiced religion in Jamaica is Christianity.
